I guess I am facing a situation that is quite common for seniors. Maybe I am just not handling it as well. I often have pangs of lonliness that I try to ignore or maybe I will substitute something to try to revert my attention.
I have tried so many of the Internet dating sites. It seems some men don't know what "close to my age" means. There are a lot of them out there in I-land who are looking for some kind of rare experience, why I am not sure, but I am not about to be their project. Then there are the really old ones who need their last companion, but why are they looking for a woman who is 20 years younger, I can just about hold myself up! Next, of course, the typical senior who is into bungy jumping, snow boarding, surfing, dang, I have never met one in person, could it all be the truth, is there really a fountain of youth or a pill that these guys take??? I know my mind would like to do many of those things, but my bod' keeps telling my mind that no matter how strong it thinks it is, it (my bod)is still going to come out the winner. Another great example are those who want a romantic and affectionate lover, but don't have the patience to wait until the second or third date. Hey, what's the problem, did your pacemaker go off and you need to get in your last attempt???? Whew, exhausting!
Now when we speak of age, do we get to subtract years for a juvenile mind or fantastic energy, or is our real age supposed to depict where we stand in the realm of experiences and ideas. If we have problems relating with our peers whose ideas and experiences are still in the past, then how do we find one our age who has similar thought processes as our own? Does this mean we have to resort to May/December relationships or Cougarism? Whoa is me, why can't it just come together without having to go through all of these steps. It just ain't fun anymore, I'm getting too old for this.
So, on to the main question, "do I remain alone or take a risk, and does it take too much effort and sorting through bull to bother trying"? Are any of you going through that same quandary?
